A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE
ESTABLISHMENT OF A TRUST ACCOUNT ENTITLED
"CITY OF MIAMI BEACH EMPLOYEES' RELIEF FUND" ,
FOR THE PURPOSE OF RECEIVING MONETARY
DONATIONS AND THE DISBURSEMENT OF THOSE FUNDS
FOR THE PURPOSE OF AIDING AND ASSISTING CITY
EMPLOYEES IN NEED DUE TO THE EFFECTS OF
HURRICANE ANDREW.
WHEREAS, on August 24 , 1992 , Hurricane Andrew passed across
the State of Florida and destroyed and damaged millions of dollars
of property and rendered homes unsuitable for occupation; and,
WHEREAS, many employees of the City of Miami Beach resided in
those areas hardest hit by Hurricane Andrew and whose homes were
damaged or rendered unsuitable for occupation; and,
WHEREAS, many employees and friends of employees of the City
of Miami Beach are desirous of providing assistance to those
employees in need; and,
WHEREAS, such assistance provided may be in the form of cash
donations for the purchase of building material and other necessary
supplies and it is necessary to establish an accounting system for
the use of those funds.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City of Miami Beach is
hereby authorized to establish a trust account, entitled "City of
Miami Beach Employees' Relief Fund" for the purpose of receiving
monetary donations and for the disbursement of all such donations
for the purpose of providing assistance to those employees of the
City of Miami Beach whose home were damaged or rendered unsuitable
for occupation by Hurricane Andrew.
