THE MEETING WAS CALLED TO ORDER AT 5:47 P.M.
FROMBERG: Now on to the Redevelopment Agency meeting. Mrs. Baker.
BAKER: All members of the Agency are present with the exception of Mr.
Arkin. (ITEM 1.)
On Item 2. , you've received the minutes of the February 20, 1985,
meeting. A motion for acceptance . . .
FROMBERG: Okay. Moved by Commissioner Singer, seconded by Commissioner
Shockett, all in favor signify by saying "aye". (AYE) Any opposed? The
minutes are accepted. (6-0) Mr. Executive Director.
PARKINS: Mr. Chairman and members of the Agency board, you have attached to
your agenda the Executive Director's report. (ITEM 3.) Very quickly, .. .
The status of the Coast Guard Property - We're still preparing for a
meeting with GSA including inviting them to meet with us to further explore
alternatives to the sale. We've also had discussions with our Tallahassee
Lobbyist to attempt to secure adequate funding to purchase the property. One
of the problems we're finding is the National Park Service and GSA are not in
accord with one another on how the property ought to be . . . as to the
disposition of the property. We're hopeful, after meetings with Mr. Richard
Froemke and others, that we're going to get some meeting of the minds in that
regard.
Cheezem Development Agreement - The preloading of the condominium tower
is complete. Their building permit is still in process. The plans for the
ceremony, or mound-breaking, I guess, for mid-March are being firmed up.
South Pointe Park - Phase I construction is about 50% complete. Phase
II is about 15% complete. The project is on schedule and within the approved
budget that was appropriated.
Newman Contract - Audio/visual for South Pointe is nearly complete. A
second newsletter is being prepared. Investor Kit is prepared. Most of his
efforts have been directed toward coordinating Developer/Investor Conference
scheduled for mid-March.
The SSDI Lawsuit - The Agency Attorney will give you a report regarding
his hearing before Judge Turner on March 5th.
Corridor Studies - Goodkin's initial research was provided to you
separately with respect to housing absorption rates. Consultants are
targeting the completion of their work for the Developer/Investor Conference
in mid-March. And, finally, the
Housing Authority Negotiations you reviewed earlier and the City
Commission has reviewed them also.
I'll look to the Agency Attorney, if that's appropriate, sir, for the
report on the SSDI.
