MIAMI BEACH REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S REPORT
NOVEMBER 21, 1984
1) Status of the Coastguard Property
The Agency's staff continues to pursue, through donation rather than
purchase, the property commonly referred to as the Coastguard;''' k.
Property, which is located to South Pointe Park We IiveII
P Y adjacent ..
requested that the General Services Administration (GA):: r t
,,;r.
temporarily. postpone their proposed sale, since negotiations with the '``
City for a long term buy-out of the Park Property would conflict with ,;
the Falk Amendment. It appears preliminarilythat if we are to4.,
PP '"
acquire the Property it will necessitate a full cash payment rather f
q P Y
than a long term buy-out. 40
2) Cheezem Development Agreement
A proposed screening of the Cheezem property was approved by the
Design Review Board. Cheezem continues to indicate that they
intend to break ground during the early part of January 1985.
3) Newman Contract
Attached is an outline of the Proposed Audio Visual concept that
Newman is preparing under his Contract with the City.
4) Corridor Studies
Each of the Consultants that were approved preliminarily by the
Agency at their last meeting has been contacted. We are currently
preparing draft contracts, and expect to have them to the Agency
Members prior to the next City Commission Meeting. The Firms
have been invited to appear on the next Agency Agenda in order to
receive the input from the Agency Members prior to finalizing the
contracts.
