EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S REPORT
FEBRUARY 6, 1985
1) Status of Coast Guard Property
The attached correspondence was forwarded to the Acting Director of Land
Disposition in Washington, D.C. along with copies to appropriate staff in Atlanta. We
are currently awaiting a response on the issues that were raised with the Acting
V Director.
2) Cheezem Development Agreement
Cheezem has begun pre-loading the site for the first condominium tower. A ground
breaking ceremony Is scheduled for mid-March; this event will take place around the
proposed Developers Conference.

3) Newman Contract
Mr. Newman provided a written report on the status of his contract, and a copy of the
report is included in the Redevelopment Agency Agenda package.
4) Development of Regional Impact Issues
We have notified the State of Florida that it is our intent to abandon the previous
Development Order. Public Hearings are scheduled for the Fbruar and/or
the March 6, 1985 meeting of the City Commission, as required by the State Statute.
5) South Pointe Park
A more complete status of the South Pointe Park Project will be provided in the next
Redevelopment Agency Agenda.
6) Corridor Study
Preliminary design concepts were presented to the Economic Development Council and
the Office Subcommittee of the Rediscover Miami Beach Committee during the week
of January 28, 1985. The initial results of the design analysis far the Corridor Studies
indicates that Lenox is a reasonable alternative to shifting Alton Road slightly to the
east in order to provide a larger waterfront parcel. The designs are under review by
the School Board for impact on their property. Additional meetings with the team
members are scheduled during the, week of February 11, 1985, with a major
presentation to the Redevelopment Agency on February 20, 1985. The Corridor Study
efforts are being targetted for presentation at the Developers Conference in
mid-March.
7) SSDI Lawsuit
•
According to the judgment entered, the option must be exercised by
February 17, 1985. Agency staff have had very limited discussions with SSDI
representatives, and at this time are waiting to hear from them relative to their
decision of exercising the option or attempting to be re-paid the notes advanced.
