Miami Beach G.O. Bond Program Preserves Arts and Culture Buildings
–With Sustainable Roof Restorations—
WHO/WHAT: Join the City of Miami Beach on Tuesday, September 3 as it celebrates
the unveiling of a new “cool roof” at The Colony Theatre. The sustainable
roof installation features a white reflective surface that helps keep the
inside of the building cool.
The Mayor and City Commission will commemorate the event alongside
City Manager Jimmy L. Morales and several community leaders who
have long anticipated the preservation and strengthening of Miami
Beach’s cultural facilities.
The Colony Theatre was one of three Miami Beach arts and culture
institutions to be identified in a city inspection for needing full roof
replacements. The other two roofs, located at The Fillmore and the
Miami City Ballet, are also in the process of being restored with
sustainable and resilient roofing systems.
All three roof replacements are funded by the city’s $439 million General
Obligation (G.O.) Bond Program, which residents voted to approve by
over 70 percent in the November 2018 referendum. For more
information, visit www.GOMBINFO.com.
WHEN: Tuesday, September 3 at 11 a.m.
WHERE: The Colony Theatre
1040 Lincoln Road
