Lincoln Road to Bloom With 500 Native Orchids
–Tuesday, July 9 at 11 a.m.–
WHO/WHAT: Experience the growth of South Florida’s native flower on Tuesday, July 9
at 11 a.m. in an orchid planting ceremony on Lincoln Road. Donated by
Terranova, over eight species of the vibrant vine will be planted along the
palm and hardwood trees.
In 2017, Fairchild Botanical Garden planted the seed to bring back orchid
prominence with the launch of its Million Orchid Project. Since then, the
City of Miami Beach has brought that vision to fruition – on track to plant a
total 20,000 native orchids throughout the urban island.
The morning will also include the dedication of a new cross orchid by Dr.
Martin Motes, a renown local orchid grower. The new species will be
named in honor of Terranova chairman Stephen Bittel, a strong advocate
in support of Fairchild’s orchid programs.
WHEN: Tuesday, July 9 at 11 a.m.
WHERE: 800 Block of Lincoln Road
