Miami Beach Trolley Receives Significant Grant
—Funds to be Used Towards the South Beach Trolley—
Miami Beach, FL – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Public Transit
Service Development program has awarded the City of Miami Beach a $1.25 million
grant for the operation of the South Beach Trolley service.
“We are incredibly grateful to have been a recipient of this grant,” said City Manager
Jimmy L. Morales. “Funding of this magnitude allows us to continue providing reliable,
convenient and free trolley service for the residents, visitors and workforce in the South
Beach community.”
The Miami Beach Trolley system carries over 5.2 million people annually and was the
only trolley service in Miami-Dade County to receive a 4-star rating from the Transit
Alliance. The municipality has secured a total of $3.68 million under FDOT’s grant
program over a five-year period since the inception of the city’s trolley service in 2014.
