And the Winner is... The Miami Beach Convention Center!
MIAMI BEACH - Facilities magazine, the leading trade publication for public
facilities and professional meeting associations, has awarded the SMG-managed
Miami Beach Convention Center a prestigious Prime Site Award, the second time
the facility has earned this distinction.
Prime Site Awards are bestowed on a select number of facilities nationwide and
are based on the direct opinions of industry professionals responsible for site
selection.
"Convention business in Miami Beach is definitely on the upswing," said Doug
Tober, SMG General Manager. "For the first time in 30 years, a new hotel
properly is opening within walking distance of the convention center.
Consequently, we are experiencing a trend in bookings of a size that we have not
seen in a long time. We are excited and eager to welcome guests to our beautiful
community and state-of-the art convention center."
Ita Moriarty, Senior Vice-President of Convention Sales with the Greater Miami
Convention & Visitors Bureau, says, "There is no better place to hold a
convention or major trade show than the Miami Beach Convention Center. In
addition to the world-class convention center and its professional staff, the
improvements in hotel accommodations and in the overall visitor industry
product, have transformed the area into a dynamic international convention
destination."
SMG is the leading private management company for public assembly facilities
worldwide. The Philadelphia based firm operates 65 arenas, stadiums, convention
centers and theaters in the United States and Europe.

tentatively will open in a
year and a half. In addition,
the Fontainebleu and
the Radisson arc both

Adjacent to the Center is
the beautifully renovated

productions or general sessions. The Theater offers seating for 2,700 and
features an Art Deco motif.
Another amenity of the Convention Center is a Concierge Desk, which is
