A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, RETROACTIVELY APPROVING
AND RECOGNIZING THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH AS A DRUG-FREE
WORKPLACE THAT HAS QUALIFIED FOR THE WORKERS'
COMPENSATION DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE DISCOUNT STARTING
FROM OCTOBER 01, 2013 AND EXTENDING TO SEPTEMBER 30,
2020.
• WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach (the "City") prides itself in maintaining a safe,
healthy, and productive workforce, free from the effects of drugs; and
WHEREAS, in balancing the interests of the City, its employees, and the welfare of the
general public, the City has established and maintained standards, in accordance with Florida
law, to assure fair and accurate testing for drugs in the workplace is in the best interests of all;
and
WHEREAS, in a commitment to safeguard the health of our employees and to provide
a safe working environment for everyone, the City has established a Drug-Free Workplace
Program; and
WHEREAS,the City has applied for, and consequently received approval from the State
recognizing the City as a Drug-Free Workplace because the City's drug-free policy complies with
the requirements set forth in Fla. Stat. § 440.102; and
WHEREAS, the City has qualified for the Workers' Compensation Administration Trust
Fund and Special Disability Trust Fund assessment, which entitles the City to receive drug-free
workplace discount credits for the years 2019 and 2020 because the City met the necessary
criteria.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby retroactively approve and recognize the City of Miami Beach as a drug-free
workplace that has qualified for the Workers' Compensation Drug-Free Workplace Premium
discount starting from October 01, 2013 extending to September 30, 2020.
