The City of Miami Beach Police Department under the Florida Mutual Aid Act,
contained within Chapter 23 of the Florida Statutes, frequently works closely with other
law enforcement agencies in the South Florida region to respond to multi-jurisdictional
law enforcement problems, so as to protect the public peace and safety, and preserve
the lives and property of the residents and visitors to the South Florida area.
The City of Miami Beach Police Department ("MBPD") is responsible for ensuring
the public safety of its residents and visitors and strives to provide innovative initiatives
to combat burglary offenses, auto theft, and related criminal activity that may cross over
into the surrounding areas of the South Florida region including Miami-Dade County,
Broward County, Palm Beach County, Martin County and St. Lucie County. The South
Florida Task Force Burglary Apprehension and Vehicle Crimes Unit enhances the ability
of the Miami Beach Police Department to participate in joint operations to combat law
enforcement challenges.
The MBPD therefore requests the Mayor and the City Commission to authorize
the City Manager and City Clerk to execute this agreement between the City of Miami
Beach and the Subscribing Law Enforcement Agencies in Miami-Dade County, Broward
County, Palm Beach County, Martin County and St. Lucie County to participate in the
