84-17937 Reso84-17937 A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE CERTIFICATION OF THE METROPOLITAN DADE COUNTY CANVASSING COMMITTEE AS TO THE RESULTS OF TEE CIT~ OF MIAMI BEACH SPECIAL ELECTION HELD ON NOVEMBER 6, 1984. W"~%~, on November 6, 1984, Metropolitan Dade County conducted the Presidential Election, at which time the City of Miami Beach authorized the holding of a special election, and N~AS, by Resolution No. 84-17806, adopted by the Miami Beach City Commission on July 25,1984, the Metropolitan Dade County Canvassing Board as authorized to act as the Canvassing Board for the special election of the City of Miami Beach to be held on November 6, 1984, and #H~AS, the certification of the results of the City of Miami Beach Special Election as submitted by David C. Leahy, Supervisor of Elections, Metropolitan Dade County, Florida, dated November 13, 1984 has been received and is made a part of this resolution, and W-~EAS, said certification reflects that the questions submitted were not approved by the electorate of the City of Miami Beach; N~W, TWR~EFO~E, BE IT RESOLvmu by the City Commission of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, that said Certification be and the same is hereby adopted, which reflects that there were 34,646 votes cast and that upon the questions: QUESTI~ NO. 1: "Shall the City issue general obligation bonds payable all or in part from special assessments of abutting Lincoln Road Mall property owners benefitted thereby, as authorized by law, in an amount not to exceed $3,500,000.00, bearing interest at a rate or rates to be determined at the time of sale not exceeding the maximum legal rate, for the purpose of opening Lincoln Road Mall to vehicular traffic?" 7{822 were cast FOR BO~D~ 17,286 were cast AGAINSTB(H~ Qu~'TIO~ NO. 2: "Shall ~37(h) of the Charter of the City of Miami Beach be repealed so that only general obligation bonds, required by the Florida Constitution, must be approved by the electorate?" 10~116 ~ 12,041 NO ~STI(~ NO. 3: "Shall Section 8 of the Charter be amended to establish four-year staggered terms for elected officials by the City Clerk drawing lots at least 90 days prior to the November, 1985 election to determine which half of the six commission groups will expire in November, 1987 and which half of the said groups will expire in November 1989; the Mayor's term will likewise be determined, thereafter, all terms of office shall be for four years?" 10~977 12~467 BE IT ~ l~.~OLvmu AND DE"fEl~flHt~) THAT Q~TION(S) 1, 2, and 3 approved.
