FTAA EMERGENCY OPERATION CENTER ACTIVATION
During the week of the FTAA event in the City of Miami, the Administration has been
advised by Miami-Dade County [hat the County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) will
be activated and functioning. As such, the City of Miami Beach will have a representative
at the Miami-Dade County EOC.
During the week of the FTAA event (November 16-21), I will activate the City of Miami
Beach EOC on a limited basis. The City of Miami Beach EOC will be located in the City
Manager's Conference Room on the 4th Floor of City Hall and will have only minimal
staffing with the ability to supplement personnel and assignments as any incidents would
so dictate. The City's principal response to the FTAA events and any incidents that occur
in the City of Miami Beach will be handled by the City of Miami Beach Police Department
on an incident command basis at a command post that will be maintained by the Police
Department at the City of Miami Beach Police Headquarters. Support personnel from the
Operating Departments and from the Fire Department will be at the Police Command Post
and will support the Police Department incident response with resources as necessary and
appropriate.
As the FTAA event date gets closer, I will provide a specific list of staff assignments and
the time of activation for the City of Miami Beach EOC.
If you have any questions about the City's response or preparations, please do not hesitate
to contact me.
