City of Miami Beach to Reopen Beaches, Hotels &
Condominium/Apartment Building Pools
– Starting June 1 and Subject to a Series of Safety Guidelines –
Miami Beach, FL – Today, the City of Miami Beach has amended its Emergency Order
— allowing for beaches, hotels and condominium/apartment building pools to reopen on
June 1, 2020, consistent with Miami-Dade County Emergency Order 23-20 and subject
to a series of rules and social distancing guidelines.
Beaches will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. with the following COVID -19 safety
measures in place :
• Facial coverings must always be readily available and are required for use in
bathrooms, at concessions or when social distancing cannot be achieved (except
for members of the same household)
• Social distancing will be enforced and groups of 10 or more are prohibited
• No use of exercise equipment or playgrounds; no shared equipment, organized
activities, sports or classes; no special events or group picnics
• No fishing, pets on the beach, floats, tents/canopies nor coolers

Over 100 social distancing ambassadors will be deployed on the beach daily for the
next few weeks to ensure patrons are following the aforementioned measures.
Hotel guidelines include the following:
• Facial coverings must be used by guests in interior common areas and in
outdoor common areas where social distancing cannot be achieved; and staff
must wear facial coverings at all times, both indoors and out
• Social distancing precautions, signage and sanitizer or soap/water must be
readily available at key entrances and public areas
• Elevator use is limited to 50 percent capacity with no more than four occupants,
unless they are members of the same family
• No valet parking where onsite parking is available. When parking is unavailable,
valets must social distance, wear facial coverings, change/sanitize gloves
between each vehicle and avoid touching guest luggage (unless guests are
physically unable to lift the luggage)
• Capacity shall be reduced by 50 percent of building occupancy in restaurants,
meeting areas and banquet spaces
• No self-service food operations

Pools at condos, apartment buildings, homeowner associations and hotels will need to
adhere to social distancing guidelines and capacity limits. Visit

Additionally, the city’s beachwalks and baywalks are now open to pedestrians, bicycles,
scooters, skateboarders and roller/in-line skaters with no time restrictions. Facial
coverings must continue to be worn if social distancing cannot otherwise be achieved,
except by children under the age of 2, persons who have trouble breathing due to a
chronic pre-existing condition, or persons engaged in strenuous physical activity or
exercise.
At this time, community pools, gyms, dog parks and short-term rentals are NOT open.
