This Letter to Commission is to inform you of a new initiative the Miami Beach Police
Department is launching. With the pandemic placing unprecedented economic pressure
on area families, the Miami Beach Police Department has partnered with the Miami Diaper
Bank to launch Operation Diaper Duty, a unique program that delivers much needed
diapers to South Florida families in need.
MBPD is collecting donations of new, unwrapped diapers in the lobby of police
headquarters, 1100 Washington Avenue. While all donations are appreciated, the greatest
need is for sizes 4 up to pull-ups. The community can drop-off donations of new, unopened
diapers any time between now and February 4.
The Miami Diaper Bank helps families across South Florida in six counties, including
Miami-Dade, Broward, Monroe, Lee, Collier and Palm Beach. The organization has
already distributed more than 1.4 million diapers throughout South Florida during the
COVID-19 pandemic and response efforts.
The goal is to fill a moving truck with new diapers and deliver them to the Miami Diaper
Bank on Friday, February 5. The cost of diapers can add up very quickly for families that
are already struggling to navigate these challenging times.
