F,T.A.A, - GAP P OTEST
Date: November 12, 2003
To:
From:
This Letter to the Commission is to provide information on a F.T.A.A. related protest
assembly which is scheduled to occur on Monday 11/17/03 ending at the GAP located at
673 Collins Ave at approximately 2:00 p.m. This event occurs on the first day of the
F.T.AA enhanced staffing plan of the M.B.P.D. The Police Department will have a Field
Force team on stand-by as well as the Bike Units available to monitor and direct peaceful
demonstrators. Should the protest include civil disobedience and the intent to destroy
property, the M.B.P.D. is fully trained and prepared to ensure the safety of citizens and
property. The Motor Units will also be monitoring the situation and will be available to
reroute traffic should that become necessary.
The Gap demonstration's theme is that "We'd Rather Wear Nothing Than Wear Gap".
The protestors intend to disrobe in front of the GAP as the Grand Finale of their march.
The estimates on the demonstration size range between 500 and 1 000 protestors.
