A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH TO
RETROACTIVELY ACCEPT DONATIONS FROM COSTCO WHOLESALE
CORPORATION, IN THE AMOUNT OF $300.00, FOR THE CITY'S FOOD
PANTRY PROGRAM AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER,
OR HIS DESIGNEE, TO MAKE ANY NECESSARY REIMBURSEMENTS
AND/OR EXPENDITURES OF THE AFORESTATED DONATION IN
FURTHERANCE OF, AND CONSISTENT WITH, THE AFORESTATED EVENT
AND PURPOSE.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach is offering food assistance to qualifying residents
who have lost their employment and are experiencing food insecurity through the City's Food
Pantry Program; and
WHEREAS, residents interetsed in this service may fill out the Food Application Form by
visiting https://www.miamibeachfl.gov/food/ where, upon receipt of the application, they will be
contacted by the City Administration with a date, time and location for food pick up; and
WHEREAS, an average of 192 Miami Beach households are served weekly through the
Food Pantry Program and the Food Pantry Program does its best to accommodate food
packages for vegetarian and kosher households as well; and
WHEREAS, on October 15, 2020, City staff secured a donation in the amount of$300.00
from Costco Wholesale Corporation for the purposes of the City's Food Pantry Program; and
WHEREAS, the City Administration recommends that the City Commission retroactively
approve and authorize the City's acceptance of the aforestated donation, and authorize the City
Manager, or his designee, to make any necessary reimbursements and/or expenditures of the
aforestated donation in furtherance of, and consistent with, the aforestated event and purpose.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby authorize the City of Miami Beach to retroactively accept the donation from
Costco Wholesale Corporation, in the amount of $300.00, for the City's Food Pantry Program,
and authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to make such expenditures or reimbursements
consistent with the aforestated event and purpose.
