SUBJECT: DEADLINE TO PLACE MEASURES ON THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH
NOVEMBER 2, 2021 GENERAL ELECTION BALLOT.
In order for the City Commission to present ballot measures to City voters, a Special
Election must be scheduled via the Commission's adoption of a City Resolution.
Set forth below are the relevant deadlines by which the City would be required to submit
its Resolution(s) to the County calling for a Special Election to be held on November 2,
2021.

Pursuant to Florida Statutes Section 100.151, "...the governing authority of a municipality
shall not call any Special Election until notice is given to the Supervisor of Elections and
her consent obtained as to a date ... " Once approval is obtained from the Supervisor of
Elections, the resolution to call a Special Election must be passed to meet the submittal
deadlines listed above.
