Meeting Minutes
Tuesday, November 10, 2020
Members in attendance – Cindy Brown, Danny Diaz, Edward
Kring, Gayle Durham, Herb Sosa, Mark Wylie, Michael Bath,
Paul Thomas, Riki Wilchins, Robin Schwartz, Sunny Weber
Others in attendance- Dan Rios, GMCVB
Called to order at 1:01 p.m.
Ongoing Business:
A. Approval of the October 13, 2020 meeting minutes- motion: Riki, second: Paul. All in
favor.
B. MBPD Updates – None, Robin will reach out to Officer Valdes
C. GMCVB / Marketing updates – Dan Rios provided some updates. He spoke about how
they are focusing on encouraging people to do activities outdoors. He also spoke about
some other events going on including how they getting ready to roll out art and culture
heritage month.
New Business:
A. Discuss restructuring of subcommittees/ideas for 2021- Discussion was held. Cindy
requested someone to else take leadership of the HRC Rating Subcommittee- Paul
and Eddie volunteered, Sunny will be removed from the HRC Rating Subcommittee
and only remain on the LGBTQ Visibility/Marketing/Tourism Subcommittee. Michael
suggested separating the LGBTQ Visibility/Marketing/Tourism Subcommittee. Eddie
suggested keeping it together. The Committee discussed how they would like an
attorney from the City Attorney’s Office to attend future meetings. The Committee
added an Advocacy Subcommittee, Paul made a motion and Sunny seconded. All in
favor.
B. Sunny brought up Marriage Equality Month proposal, which was discussed at the
LGBTQ Visibility/Marketing/Tourism Subcommittee meeting. Discussion was held.
Motion was made by Sunny to create an LTC to send to the Commission requesting
Marriage Equality Month. Second was made by Riki. All in favor.
C. Paul brought up how the LGBTQ Visibility/Marketing/Tourism Subcommittee also
discussed the Palace and the idea of reimagining Ocean Drive. He suggested sending
an LTC to the Commission on the importance of the Palace remaining on Ocean Drive.
Discussion was held, the Committee like the idea, but they would like to know what the
letter says before it is sent to the Commission. Paul read his suggested verbiage for
the letter, the Committee provided input and asked for it to come back to a future
meeting. The Committee suggested having a meeting on November 25th at 10:30 a.m.
to further discuss this and edit the letter.

Subcommittees Reports and Next Actions
1) HRC Rating (Cindy, Herb, Sunny)- Remove Sunny and Herb. Add Paul and Eddie.
2) LGBTQ Visibility/Marketing/ Tourism (Gayle, Mark, Paul, Sunny, Danny)- Add Herb,
Michael and Eddie as the lead. Remove Paul.
3) Health and Wellness (Riki, Jamie, Craig, Paul)- Craig is absent, so they will discuss
next time.
4) Add Advocacy Subcommittee- members are Paul, Robin, Sunny, Eddie, Cindy
Meeting adjourned at 2:25 p.m.
