Please be as specific as possible; name of event, venue, times, etc. Miami Beach Anchors should list specifics about their mentoring program. There have been few changes in the project narrative since the original grant application. The Miami Dance Machine's performance of "Ballroom on the Beach" will be a 1 1/2 to 2 hour stage production at the Club Tropigala at the Fountainebleau Hotel on Miami Beach set for the date of March 21st, 2004. As of now, only one performance is scheduled, but there are possibilities for multiple performances if the production is well received by audiences. The production will examine the history of partner dance styles in two choreographic acts: "Swingin' Through the Ages" (Examines the history of social and partnership dance In America from the popular European Waltz in the United States before the turn of the 20th century, progressing with the development of the Swing Era of the 30's, 40's, 50's into popular dance of the 60's and disco of the 70's.) and "Latin Sabor" (Looks at the history behind Latin dances of South America, including tango, salsa, mambo, cha-cha, samba and more ""ith their roots in Africa to the current popularity of these dance forms in the United States and across the globe) The production will be written, directed and produced by the Dance Director of the Miami Dance Machine, Nicole Dowell and Artistic Director, Randy Pittman. It will include performances by Miami Dance Machine teaching professionals including Mr. Pittman and Ms. Dowell as well as Rafael Aguilar, Justin Grubbs, Collette Hebert, and Richard Council as well as award-winning regional and national dancers like Darryl Silvers, Billy Fajardo and Katie Marlow, and Andre and Natalie Paramanov. There will also be invited professionals from other local and regional studios, like Kendall Dance Studios and Goldcoast Ballroom (in Coconut Creek, FL.) Each professional will receive compensation for their performances. The educational component of this project will place some of the performers in Nautilus Middle School and/or Miami Beach High School for a workshOp and Informational session up to a week prior to the production. A number of complimentary tickets will also be given to participating students of these schools to view the production as well as to local charities like Big Brothers BIg Sisters and the Boys and Girls Club. Tickets will be sold throughout Miami-Dade and marketed in various newspapers, and to several of the assisted living retirement homes.
