SUBJECT: Miami Beach Throwback Bash Concert Series Launching June 2021
The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to announce the launch of a new and exciting
cultural program from the Department of Tourism and Culture, Miami Beach Throwback Bash.
The Miami Beach Throwback Bash is an upcoming 80s and 90s concert series that will
launch Saturday, June 26, 2021. In continuation with the reimagining of the Art Deco
Cultural District, the City is presenting a series of four (4) concerts with a focus on 80s
and 90s dance music in Lummus Park. As the sun sets, enjoy well-known local radio
celebrity DJ Felix Sama and famous talent, perform their most loved Freestyle and House
music hits live on the sand. The concert series will kick off with Shannon and include
Lime, Company B, TKA, and a surprise guest to end the series.
Freestyle and House music are forms of dance music that emerged in New York City and
Miami during the 1980s and 90s. In 1983, "Let the Music Play" by Shannon is often
attributed as being the first freestyle hit.
The schedule for the Miami Beach Throwback Bash is as follows:
Event: Miami Beach Throwback Bash -DJ Felix Sama with Shannon
Date: June 26, July 17, September 11, and October 9, 2021
Time: 6 PM to 8 PM
Location: Lummus Park (12 Street and Ocean Drive)
Performers: DJ Felix Sama, Shannon, Lime, Company B, TKA and Surprise Guest

and visitors alike to the Art Deco Cultural District for a musical trip down memory lane.
