The Works of Art
Date: February 6, 2004
The latest testament to the world-class status of our beautiful, new Miami Beach Golf Club
is to be found in Arthur Hills' autobiography "The Works Of Art." It is my pleasure to
provide you with a copy of this attractive coffee table book.
This special issue is made all the more appealing by featuring a photograph of our course
on the cover. The Miami Beach Golf Club is mentioned on page 8, and described in detail
and photography on pages 258-259.
Recognized as one of the world's most talented golf course amhitects, Hills selected former
PGA Tour staffer and current PGA of America wdter Michael Patdck Shiels to co-author the
book. Shiels began his in-depth study of Mr. Hills and his works at the December 2003
grand opening of the new Miami Beach course. It is significant that the Miami Beach Golf
Club is the first course mentioned by Shiels in his preface to the work. We can't help but
believe that Shiels drew inspiration for the project from our course.
Hills calls the Miami Beach Golf Club "an exciting course in a vibrant, star-studded,
urban location." "We've worked in many locations," Hills writes, "but being a part of the
revival of Miami Beach's famed South Beach is very exciting."
The course continues to demonstrate the vision of the Mayor and City Commission, and
the creative design of Arthur Hills by posting numbers that meet our projections.
