Seahawks Swim Team Honored
Date: January 28, 2004
Scott Rakow Youth Center swimmers have become the latest Parks & Recreation program
participants to bring honor and positive attention to our City.
The Miami Beach Seahawks Swim Team won First Place at the Junior Orange Bowl
Swimming Championships held at the Miami Springs Aquatic Center on December 20,
2003. Seahawks team members amassed the greatest number of points and medals in the
various age groups and swimming events.
Two of our swimmers placed at the Winter Championships held at the Plantation Aquatic
Center. Ten year old Melena Gatti took Third Place overall honors in the 10-year old and
under class. She competed against 100 others. Nine year old Andres Reyes placed 7th in
the 50-yard freestyle event.
About 50 boys and girls between the ages of 7 and 15 participate in the Seahawks Swim
Team program. They practice at the Scott Rakow Youth Center pool, and are coached by
Pedro David Rodriguez.
