LTC 245-2021 COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution UpdateMIAMI BEACH
OFFICE OF THE CITY MANAGER
LTC# LETTER TO COMMISSION
TO: Honorable Mayor Dan Gelber and Members of the City Commission
FROM: Alina T. Hudak, City Manag
DATE: June 15, 2021 \.J \. ,
SUBJECT: COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Update
The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to provide an update on COVID-19 vaccine
distribution efforts. The Miami Beach Fire Department has administered a total of 13,930
COVI D-19 shots and has exhausted the City's remaining allotment. These efforts have
served our community's most vulnerable population, including low-income residents, the
elderly, homebound individuals along with health care workers, first responders, school
faculty, congregants of houses of worship, city employees, contractors and others.
The 17 Street and Convention Center Drive site has administered a total of 10,592 doses
of vaccine as of Sunday, June 13. By hosting an easily accessible COVID-19 vaccination
site on Convention Center Drive, we have served thousands of residents and visitors.
Additionally, through the ongoing efforts of Commissioner David Richardson, we have
supplemented the Convention Center Drive site with pop-up mobile vaccination units. We
have also leveraged high-impact events, such as the South Beach Wine & Food Festival
and the National Salute to America's Heroes Air & Sea Show, to provide additional
vaccine access.
The City has been informed by the Florida Department of Health that the last day for
COVID-19 vaccinations at the 17 Street and Convention Center Drive site will be on
Friday, June 18. Alternate COVID-19 vaccination locations within 10 miles include: CVS
Pharmacy on Washington Avenue, Walgreens on Jefferson Avenue, Pure Pharmacy on
West Avenue, Publix Pharmacy on West Avenue and Azuri Medical Aesthetics and
Rejuvenation Center on 41 Street.
The drive-thru COVID-19 testing site on Convention Center Drive has administered
approximately 348,000 tests as of Thursday, June 10 and will continue to operate daily.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all City staff that has been involved in these
ongoing efforts, including our Fire Department, Office of Housing and Community
Services, Office of Marketing and Communications, Property Management and
Tran sportation Department.
Thank you for your continued support.
