SUBJECT: Miami Beach Police Department Annual Holiday Toy Giveaway Event
This Letter to the Mayor and Commission is to extend an invitation to attend the Miami Beach
Police Department's 30 th Annual Holiday Toy Giveaway on Saturday, December 18 th from 10:00
a.m. till approximately 2:00 p.m.
During the planning of this event months ago, there were COVID-19 restrictions in place which
necessitated a deviation from the annual tradition of hosting the event at the police department.
At that time, a decision was made to deliver the toys to the 300 registered children at their
residences within the City of Miami Beach. Officers from the Miami Beach Police Department and
volunteers from the USMC Reserve Unit from the 4th Civil Affairs Group in Hialeah will begin
loading police cars at 10:00 a.m. in front of the department with toys. The officers will then deliver
the toys to the registered family.
Each year, through the generosity of the Miami Beach community (private citizens, local
businesses, civic organi zations, the LGBT Visitors Bureau, and many more), funds are donated to
the Miami Beach Police Athletic League (PAL) enabling the Miami Beach Police Department to
purchase and provide toys to the children of Miami Beach. For many, this may be the only toy
they receive this year. The joy and happine ss this event brings to these children make the event
extremely rewarding for all those involved.
