SUBJECT: Public Workshop for Climate Action Plan
I am excited to inform you of an upcoming workshop for the City of Miami Beach's first Climate
Action Plan (CAP) scheduled for Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at 6 p.m. This virtual workshop will
provide an overview of the CAP and a platform for the community to share their feedback on
prioritizing actions that align with the City's commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions
(GHG) and reach its net zero goal.
The CAP is being developed as a direct outcome of the City's baseline greenhouse gas emissions
inventory and to support the climate legislation championed by the Mayor and City Commission.
In April 2021, Resolution 2021-31664 was adopted to recognize the effects of climate change
caused by human activity and to approve the City's joint effort with our Resilient305 partners
Miami-Dade County and the City of Miami to establish a climate action goal of achieving net zero
greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
The CAP will address the top sources of emissions in the community: energy, transportation, and
solid waste. The CAP will provide prioritized actions to reduce emissions in each of these focus
areas .
The workshop will be open to the public. There is also an opportunity for the public to share their
feedback prior to the workshop through the CAP questionnaire. The questionnaire will be
available until Monday, February 11, 2022.
