Miami Beach Trolleys to Resume Service
— The free trolleys will be available once again starting on President’s Day —
Miami Beach, FL – The popular Miami Beach Trolley Service will resume operations on Feb.
15 following an 11-month absence brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. The citywide
trolleys will operate at a reduced level of service with fewer hours and more frequent cleanings
for the remainder of the year.
“Our trolleys are a great way for Miami Beach residents and visitors to get around the city
without a car,” explained Miami Beach Interim City Manager Raul Aguila. “We have added
enhanced cleaning procedures, social distancing and a mandatory mask requirement to make
sure that our riders stay safe.”
The free trolley service was suspended on March 26 at the onset of the pandemic as medical
experts grappled with more questions than answers about how the virus was transmitted.
All drivers will be required to undergo daily temperature checks and passengers and drivers
must wear face masks while aboard trolleys, including boarding and disembarking. No more
than 10 to 12 passengers will be permitted on each trolley at any given time.
LSF, the contractor hired by the city to operate the trolley service, will be given cleaning
products approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to disinfect the interior of
each vehicle as well as high-touch surfaces after completing each loop. The company will also
be required to conduct a deep cleaning of every trolley using EPA-approved products at the
end of every day. The city will provide hand sanitizer for use by passengers.
The citywide trolley service will operate 15 hours each day, seven days per week, from 8 a.m.
to 11 p.m. For more information, please visit: www.miamibeachtrolley.com
