CourMed Plans Regional Office in Miami Beach
— The company offers concierge healthcare and wellness solutions —
Miami Beach, FL – As the trend of businesses moving to the urban resort island continues,
Miami Beach applauds the decision by concierge healthcare and wellness company CourMed
to open a regional office in the city. CourMed provides well-care solutions such as medical and
nutritional infusion therapies, and vaccines for consumers at their homes, offices, or even
hotels. Additionally, CourMed’s innovative enterprise software platform provides transparent
and seamless delivery of care from physicians, pharmacies, labs, drivers and Registered
Nurses.
“Miami Beach is the perfect place for CourMed to be,” said Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber.
“Our city is passionate about health and wellness, and we’re excited that businesses in tech
and other fields continue to relocate here in recognition of all our community has to offer.”
Miami Beach incentives include an expedited plan review and permitting process for targeted
industries in 10 business days along with the city’s Job Creation Incentive Program of up to
$60,000 per year for up to four years.
“We considered Houston, Texas; Malibu, California and Scottsdale, Arizona but we chose
Miami Beach,” explained CourMed founder and CEO Derrick L. Miles, who grew up in Florida.
“For me, it's a little bit deeper than just the weather. To me, it's family.”
Headquartered in McKinney, Texas, a Dallas suburb, Miles said his company’s target market
includes health-conscious adults, performance athletes, and people 50 and older with an
above-average net worth. “Miami Beach really met all these criteria,” Miles said. “That was one
of the main reasons why we chose to create a regional office in Miami Beach.”
CourMed plans to relocate at least 10 jobs with wages averaging $80,000. The company has
received significant investment support from the likes of the Google for Startups Black
Founders Fund and the Microsoft Black and African American Partner Growth Initiative. Miles
is also a participant in the inaugural class of the Knight Foundation Fellowship for Healthcare
Technology Innovation being presented by Baptist Health South Florida, which was launched
in an effort to expand South Florida tech talent and accelerate innovation.
Wix, a global cloud-based software company, is also planning to invest in the Miami Beach
technology scene with a planned expansion anticipated to yield significant job growth.
Miami Beach Commissioner Mark Samuelian said he believes the city offers an attractive
option for businesses with its mix of surf, sand, sustainability and scalability.
We are committed to providing excellent public service and safety to all who live, work and play in our vibrant, tropical, historic
community.
“Our emphasis on diversifying the economy is already paying big dividends by attracting
financial services and tech companies,” according to Samuelian.
