SUBJECT: Update on Business Attraction Marketing and Public Relations Campaign
The purpose of this Letter to the Commission is to inform the Mayor and City Commission
that the Administration has retained Sparkloft Media to produce a comprehensive
marketing, media, and public relations campaign to support and promote the city's efforts
to attract local, regional and national businesses and entrepreneurs.
The marketing campaign, which is being managed by the Economic Development and
Marketing and Communications departments, is aimed at enticing business leaders and
entrepreneurs to relocate to Miami Beach and/or expand existing operations. The goal is
to attract and create high-paying jobs, hire new and existing residents, fill vacant office
spaces, and showcase Miami Beach's assets, attractions and incentive programs, which
nurture business growth. The campaign will focus on marketing Miami Beach as a top
business destination to expand and strengthen the city's vibrant and diverse business
community.
Sparkloft Media has a long history of developing innovative, comprehensive campaigns
focused on economic development, travel and tourism. The firm's resume includes
campaigns for several high-profile organizations like The Atlanta Convention and Visitors
Bureau, Georgia Department of Economic Development, Portland Downtown Marketing
Initiative, Visit Santa Barbara, South African Tourism, Utah Office of Tourism, Film and
Global Branding and Coastal Mississippi, among others.
The campaign strategy will amplify the nationwide trend of companies relocating and
expanding to more livable cities, as alternative work options and telecommuting
continues. These flexible new workplace options have proven to be effective and
appealing as the world recovers from the impact of the global pandemic. The campaign
will leverage the mindset that comes from the new workplace landscape, to build a more
diverse economy and highlight the city's many amenities, investments and opportunities.
The primary target audience of the campaign are the technology, financial services and
other industries, with the intent to recruit and attract businesses that will meaningfully
contribute to the growth of our beautiful city.
