SUBJECT: Visit from Department of Elder Affairs Secretary -Updated Schedule
The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to inform the Mayor and City Commission that
DOEA Secretary Michelle Branham has updated the schedule for her upcoming visit to the
North Beach Senior Center. She will now be visiting the North Beach Senior Center on
Tuesday, March 29 , 2022 from 12: 1 Spm -1 :00pm for her first post-pandemic visit t o South
Florida. Please update your calendars accordingly.
As previously indicated in L TC 097-2022 , our partners at UNIDAD were nominated by the Alliance
on Aging to represent Public Service Area 11 (Miami-Dade County) as the agency to represent
all funding recipients of Older American Act Funding distributed by the Department of Elder
Affairs (DOEA).
In addition to touring the North Beach Senior Center during her visit, Secretary Branham will
join the seniors at the congregate meal site. A short program will welcome the Secretary , with
remarks from representatives from UNIDAD of Miami Beach , the City of Miami Beach and the
Alliance for the Aging .
We are very honored to be able to showcase the North Beach Senior Center, our DOEA
funded programming , as well as other senior socialization and recreational activities offered
in partnership with various funding agencies.
The Mayor and Commission and City staff are encouraged to attend.
