A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE
PUBLIC SAFETY AND NEIGHBORHOOD QUALITY OF LIFE COMMITTEE AT
ITS MARCH 7, 2022 MEETING TO RENAME INDIAN BEACH PARK AS "MID-
BEACH PARK" AND, PURSUANT TO SECTION 82-503(A) OF THE CITY
CODE, SETTING A PUBLIC HEARING FOR MAY 4, 2022, AND DIRECTING
THE CITY CLERK TO PUBLISH THE APPROPRIATE PUBLIC NOTICE.
WHEREAS, during the October 13, 2021 City Commission meeting, the mayor and City
Commission referred a discussion regarding the renaming of Indian Beach Park to "Mid-Beach
Park" to the Neighborhood and Quality of Life Committee; and
WHEREAS, at the March 7, 2022 Public Safety and Neighborhood Quality of Life
Committee meeting (formerly known as the Neighborhood and Quality of Life Committee), the
Committee made a favorable recommendation to approve the renaming of Indian Beach Park to
Mid-Beach Park; and
WHEREAS, Indian Beach Park is located at 4601 Collins Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the name Mid-Beach Park is being recommended as there has not been
any historical significance found to the name Indian Beach Park; and
WHEREAS, the name change will also serve as a geographical marker in the City,
identifying the location where the park is in the City; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 82-503(a), renaming of exterior of a public facility
requires a public hearing, with the notice of the public hearing regarding the naming or renaming
of the public facility published at least ten days prior to the hearing in a newspaper of general
circulation in the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby accept the recommendation of the Public Safety and Neighborhood Quality
of Life Committee at its March 7, 2022 meeting to rename Indian Beach Park as "Mid-Beach
Park" and, pursuant to Section 82-503(a) of the City Code, set a Public Hearing for May 4, 2022
and direct the City Clerk to publish the appropriate public notice.

RECOMMENDATION
Accept the recommendation of the Public Safety and Neighborhood Quality of Life Committee
meeting on March 7, 2022 to rename Indian Beach Park as Mid-Beach Park and, pursuant to
Section 82-503(a)of the City Code, setting a Public Hearing for May 4, 2022 and directing the
City Clerk to publish the appropriate public notice.
