A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING, BY 5/7THS VOTE, THE RENAMING
OF INDIAN BEACH PARK AS "MID-BEACH PARK," FOLLOWING A DULY
NOTICED PUBLIC HEARING PURSUANT TO SECTION 82-503(A) OF THE
CITY CODE.
WHEREAS, during the October 13, 2021 City Commission meeting, Commission
referred a discussion regarding the renaming of Indian Beach Park to Mid-Beach Park to the
Neighborhood and Quality of Life Committee; and
WHEREAS, at the March 7, 2022 Public Safety and Neighborhood Quality of Life
Committee meeting (formerly known as the Neighborhood and Quality of Life Committee), the
Committee made a favorable recommendation to approve the renaming of Indian Beach Park to
Mid-Beach Park; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 82-503(a), renaming of exterior of a public facility
requires a public hearing, with the notice of the public hearing regarding the naming or renaming
of the public facility published at least ten days prior to the hearing in a newspaper of general
circulation in the City.
WHEREAS, at the April 6, 2022 Commission meeting, the Mayor and City Commission
approved the recommendation of the Committee to rename Indian Beach Park as Mid-Beach
Park and, pursuant to Section 82-503(a) of the City Code, scheduled a Public Hearing for May
4, 2022, directing the City Clerk to publish the appropriate public notice; and
WHEREAS, Indian Beach Park is located at 4601 Collins Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the name Mid-Beach Park is being recommended as there has not been
any historical significance found to the name Indian Beach Park; and
WHEREAS, the name change will also serve as a geographical marker in the City,
identifying the location where the park is in the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby approve, by 5/7ths vote, the renaming of Indian Beach Park as "Mid-Beach
Park,"following a duly noticed public hearing pursuant to Section 82-503(a) of the City Code.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 4th day of May 2022.

RECOMMENDATION
Approve by 5/7ths vote, pursuant to Section 82-503(a)of the City Code, the renaming of Indian
Beach Park to "Mid-Beach Park."
BACKGROUND/HISTORY
During the October 13, 2021 City Commission meeting, Commission referred a discussion
regarding the renaming of Indian Beach Park to Mid-Beach Park to the Neighborhood and
Quality of Life Committee.
At the March 7, 2022 Public Safety and Neighborhood Quality of Life Committee meeting
(formerly known as the Neighborhood and Quality of Life Committee), the Committee made a
favorable recommendation to approve the renaming of Indian Beach Park to Mid-Beach Park.
At the April 6, 2022 Commission meeting, Commission approved the recommendation of the
March 7, 2022 Public Safety and Neighborhood Quality of Life Committee meeting to rename
Indian Beach Park as Mid-Beach Park and, pursuant to Section 82-503(a) of the City Code,
setting a public hearing for May 4, 2022 and directing the City Clerk to publish the appropriate
public notice.
ANALYSIS
Indian Beach Park is located at 4601 Collins Avenue. The name Mid-Beach Park is being
recommended as there has not been any historical significance found to the name Indian Beach
Park. The name change will also serve as a geographical marker in the City, identifying the
location where the park is located within the City.
