A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 2022-32027
ELECTING COMMISSIONER KRISTEN ROSEN GONZALEZ, GROUP I, AS
VICE-MAYOR, FOR A TERM COMMENCING ON MARCH 1, 2022 AND
TERMINATING ON JUNE 30, 2022; AUTHORIZING A ONE-MONTH
EXTENSION TO COMMISSIONER ROSEN GONZALEZ'S VICE-MAYOR
TERM, EXPIRING JULY 31, 2022.
WHEREAS,the Mayor and City Commission established a policy of rotating the position of
Vice-Mayor every four months, and the next Vice-Mayor Group is Group II; and
WHEREAS, the term for the next Vice-Mayor would have been July 1, 2022 through
October 31, 2022, and Commissioner Mark Samuelian was next in the rotation to serve as Vice-
Mayor; and
WHEREAS, due to Commissioner Mark Samuelian's untimely passing, Commissioner
Rosen Gonzalez's term is extended for one additional month, expiring July 31, 2022.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that Resolution No. 2022-32027 electing
Commissioner Kristen Rosen Gonzalez, Group I, as Vice-Mayor,for a term commencing on March
1, 2022 and terminating on June 30, 2022; is amended to authorize a one-month extension to
Commissioner Rosen Gonzalez's is Vice-Mayor term, which will now expire on July 31, 2022.

SAMUELIAN, GROUP II, AS VICE-MAYOR, FOR A TERM COMMENCING
ON JULY 1,2022 AND TERMINATING ON OCTOBER 31, 2022.
ANALYSIS
The City Commission has established a policy of rotating the position of Vice-Mayor every four
(4) months. Since 1994, the rotation has been by Commission Group number in the following
sequence, Group I, II, III, IV, V, and VI. Based on this direction, the next Vice-Mayor Group is
Group I I. The term for the next Vice-Mayor is July 1, 2022 through October 31,
2022. Commissioner Mark Samuelian is next in the rotation to serve as Vice-Mayor.
