Granado, City Clerk rn DATE: August 8, 2022 SUBJECT: Resolution from the Flamingo Park Neighborhood Association relating to the Flamingo Park Historic Lodge Building and Changes/New Uses in Flamingo Park. On behalf of the Flamingo Park Neighborhood Association Board of Directors, attached please find a resolution relating to the Flamingo Park Historic Lodge Building and Changes/New Uses in Flamingo Park. F:\CLER\$ALL\L TC FROM ASSOCIATIONS\FLAMINGO PARK NA -08082022.docx 1. Flamingo Park Historic Lodge Building The Flamingo Park Neighborhood Association urges the City to make the restoration of the Historic Lodge in Flamingo Park the first activity undertaken in the Phase 2 Flamingo Park improvements. The Historic Lodge is a contributing structure in the Flamingo Park Historic District. It is severely deteriorated and is in danger of demolition by neglect. The City must follow its own laws regarding demolition by neglect and not allow further deterioration of this iconic historic building. 2. Changes/ New Uses in Flamingo Park Resolution regarding temporary day care facilities in Flamingo Park and a city-funded feasibility study for making the use permanent. Under Sec. 2-14 of the city code, Residents' Right to Know, the city shall provide "timely opportunities for input" on matters that impact resident quality of life, including developments that would change uses in a public park (2 -14(b)(3)). By this motion we confirm that the placement of new service facilities in Flamingo Park (permanent relocation of a daycare facility to the PAL building and its temporary relocation to trailers) is a policy change impacting our neighborhood quality of life. We therefore urge, per city law and policy, that the matter be brought to the FPNA before expending funds or taking the matter to the Commission.
