SUBJECT: DEDICATED CODE COMPLIANCE SHORT TERM RENTAL (STR)
INVESTIGATIONS TEAM
The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to inform the Commission on the progress of
the three Code Compliance Officers budgeted this fiscal year dedicated to the Short-Term
Rental (STR) Investigations Team. Since inception of this dedicated unit on 10/25/2021,
an additional 3997 hours have been accomplished towards inspections/investigations of
illegal STRs in the City of Miami Beach.
During the period of 10/25/2021 -08/04/2022, this dedicated STR team
investigated/pursued 1416 complaints of illegal short term/transient rentals. These
investigations resulted in 527 violations during this period. In addition, three (3) violations
for commercial use of a single-family home were also issued by this team.
