ACTIVITY:
Purpose:
The Ad Hoc North Beach CRA Advisory Committee was established to provide advisory recommendations to the
Administration and the City Commission, from a macro perspective, regarding the North Beach CRA.
Powers and Duties:
The Ad Hoc North Beach CRA Advisory Committee has the following powers and duties:
1) Provide advisory recommendations regarding the initial creation of the Redevelopment Plan;
2) Provide advisory recommendations regarding the public projects which would be included in the
Redevelopment Plan for the North Beach CRA, including recommendations relative to the overall timing,
cost efficiencies, and prioritization of proposed public projects in the North Beach CRA; and
3) Provide advisory recommendations regarding the interlocal agreement with Miami- Dade County relating
to the North Beach CRA, and all related matters pertaining to the initial establishment of the North Beach
CRA.

Community Complex project.
• Support the renaming of the North Beach Bandshell as the “Miami Beach
Bandshell” and endorse the proposed City Commission Resolution urging
the Florida National Register Review Board to approve the application for
listing the proposed North Beach Bandshell Historic Site on the National
Register of Historic Places.
• Notice that Vice-Chair Daniel Veitia resigned his membership from the
Committee.

FUTURE ACTIVITIES:
1. Examine community needs and recommending budget priorities to the City Commission;
2. Advocate for North Beach CRA legislative policy;
3. Explore short- and long-term economic development opportunities in North Beach;
4. Discuss North Beach public and private projects and assets;
5. Investigate funding opportunities for various projects;
6. Guide development of North Beach CRA marketing, branding, and signage strategy; and
7. Encourage community involvement and participation.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
1. Highlighted issues of concern to the North Beach CRA, such as affordable and workforce housing, arts
and culture, infrastructure needs, and small business development;
2. Adopted recommendations on issues of importance for consideration by the City Commission in
formulating policy action, e.g., budgetary appropriation for a North Beach CRA office presence;
3. Supported small and local businesses through education, advocacy, and the promotion of opportunities
for financial and technical assistance, e.g., recommendation of a business guide;
4. Discussed North Beach CRA TIF revenue generation, examined existing conditions in the Redevelopment
Area, and discussed potential priorities for recommendation to the City Commission for the FY2023 North
Beach CRA annual budget;
5. Advocated for North Beach cultural arts by supporting the renaming of the North Beach Bandshell and
supported an application to the Florida National Review Board for listing on the National Register of
Historic Places; and
6. Re-elected annual terms for Committee Chair Jose Smith and appointed Vice-Chair Betsy Perez.
