A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, REQUESTING THAT THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH'S REGIONAL POSTMASTER, CARLISA BRANNON, TAKE
CORRECTIVE ACTION TO REMOVE GRAFFITI AND LITTER AT THE UNITED
STATES POSTAL SERVICE OFFICE LOCATED AT 1300 WASHINGTON
AVENUE, AND ITS SURROUNDING GROUNDS, AND ENSURE THAT THE
PROPERTY IS KEPT CLEAN AND PROPERLY MAINTAINED; AND
DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO SEND A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO
FLORIDA U.S. SENATORS RICK SCOTT AND MARCO RUBIO, AND U.S.
HOUSE REPRESENTATIVES FREDERICA WILSON AND MARIA ELVIRA
SALAZAR.
WHEREAS, Post offices and delivery units are the United States Postal Service's
("USPS")front door to the public; and
WHEREAS, people visit them to buy stamps, drop off mail, or pick up a package, and
they're also the workplace for postmasters, clerks, and carriers, which is why it is important that
the USPS facilities and surrounding grounds are clean, safe, and in good condition; and
WHEREAS, the USPS postal office located at 1300 Washington Avenue in the City of
Miami Beach has been defaced with various graffiti drawings, and contains large amounts of
litter on its surrounding property, including, but not limited to, plastic bottles and empty beer
cartons, creating an Insightly and abandoned appearance; and
'WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission respectfully request that the local
Postmaster, Carlisa Brannon, take the appropriate action to remove the graffiti and ensure that
the Post Office on 1300 Washington Avenue and its surrounding grounds are kept clean and
properly maintained.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby request that the City Of Miami Beach's Regional Postmaster, Carlisa
Brannon, take corrective action to remove graffiti and litter at the United States Postal Service
Office located at 1300 Washington Avenue, and its surrounding grounds, and ensure that the
property is kept clean and properly maintained; and direct the City Clerk to send a copy of this
Resolution to Florida U.S. Senators Rick Scott And Marco Rubio, and U.S. House
Representatives Frederica Wilson and Maria Elvira Salazar.
