SUBJECT: TEMPORARY RELOCATION OF FLORIDA POWER & LIGHT DISTRIBUTION OVERHEAD
FEEDER LINE
The purpose of this L TC is to inform the Mayor and City Commission regarding the temporary relocation
of the electrical distribution overhead feeder line from its current location at 7140 Abbott Ave to the south
easement of the City 's surface parking lot (P92), located between 72nd and 73rd Streets and between
Collins and Harding Avenues . This work is not related to the City's 72 nd Street Community Complex
Project.
Although the re is no requirement to obtain city authorization to perform this work, Florida Power and Light
(FPL) contacted the Administration, in the spirit of communication and partnership, to inform us of this
upcoming project.
FPL is in the process of relocating a distribution overhead feeder line that runs parallel to Abbott Avenue
between 71 st and 72nd Streets. The relocation work is required due to an upcoming private development
project located along this same corridor. Due to the complexity of the permanent underground duct bank
and manhole relocation work, FPL will need to temporarily re-route their electrical lines. This temporary
re-routing would require the installation of three wood poles along the north side of 72nd Street.
The proposed wood poles, #11, #13 and #14, as reflected in the attached plans , are approximately 40
feet in height, 13-15 inches in diameter, and will be placed in the green area of the parking lot behind the
existing concrete sidewalk along 72nd Street (Attachment A).
A meeting was held on November 1, 2022 between representatives of FPL, Public Works, Parking, CIP
and City Manager's office to review the project schedule and requirements. All necessary permits have
been obtained.
These wood poles and overhead feeder line will be strictly temporary in nature with the relocations to
commence before the end of the year and remain in place for no more than 6 months. The temporary
relocation work is necessary to ensure that FPL can maintain continuity of service to customers in the
area.
For any questions relating to this work, please contact the FP&L Senior Customer Advisor Francisco
Cantero at (305) 218-1368.
