Miami Beach Plans Celebration of Life for Late Commissioner
— Commissioner Mark Samuelian will be honored on July 11 —
Miami Beach, FL – The life of Miami Beach Commissioner Mark Samuelian will be celebrated
at 4 p.m. on Monday, July 11 at the New World Center to honor the beloved public servant who
passed away on June 22. The venue is located at 500 17 Street, and public parking is
available in the city garage at 640 17 Street.
The celebration of life will be livestreamed via the city’s Facebook page at
Facebook.com/cityofmiamibeach. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made out to the Mark
Samuelian Foundation and mailed to Foundation Source C/O Mark Samuelian Foundation, 55
Walls Drive, 3rd Floor, Fairfield, CT 06824.
Commissioner Samuelian was first elected to public office in November 2017 and reelected in
2021 without opposition for a second, four-year term. Born in Boston, Samuelian was the first
member of his family to earn a college degree, graduating cum laude from Georgia Tech with
an industrial engineering degree and an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of
Pennsylvania.
Mark was an active leader in many of the region’s important organizations. He served on the
Board of Directors for the Miami-Dade Beacon Council and the Board of Governors for the
Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce, and he was an Advisory Board Member of the World
Affairs Council of Miami.
Commissioner Samuelian is survived by his life partner Laura Dominguez, his brother Bruce
Samuelian, sister Linda Samuelian, 92-year-old aunt Nancy Derderian Clements and many
cousins.
