SUBJECT: REFERRAL TO THE FINANCE AND ECONOMIC RESILIENCY COMMITTEE TO DISCUSS THE "MIAMI BEACH
INTERNATIONAL PIANO FESTIVAL WINTER ACADEMY" FEE WAIVER FOR THE MIAMI BEACH BOTANICAL
GARDENS.
BAC GROUND/HISTORY
On July 28th, the organizers of the "Miami Beach International Piano Festival Winter Academy" spoke with the MB Director of
Tourism and Cultural Development and arrived at a tentative verbal agreement that the city would be supportive of this event, and
mentioned that the Botanical Gardens would be available for evening piano recitals.
The festival attendees are world renown pianists, and will be performing the evenings of January 3-7 at the Miami Beach Botanical
Garden. The organizers of the event are requesting a fee waiver,as they will not be able to afford the fees otherwise.
All concerts will be open to the public.
The main event, artists and their students, will take place at the Cadet Hotel, in South Beach, and aligns with Miami Beach's"Art
Deco Cultural District"mission.
The event is soon approaching, and these fee waivers are key so that the artists and their students have a performance venue.
