The committee is vested with the power and authority to make recommendations to the city commissions and to investigate, develop and carry out plans to promote and ensure the provision of quality education in Miami Beach public schools.” Presentations No One Eats Alone Campaign/Event – to occur at Youth Commision Cristian Carranza – MDCPS STEM Lab information – item discussed Euolis Cleckly, Al Palacio, Jose Gonzalez, Milos Masjtorovic, – MBSH Drop Off Lane discussion and status – item discussed and motion made John Woodruff – Education Dept follow-up discussion and recommendations – deferred to December 2022 meeting as Woodruff was not available Minutes approved for October 25 meeting Status of Motions – all items discussed with updated provided Commission Meeting items Meeting of November 15, 2022 Members Present: Julie Basner, Mary Keinath, Beverly Heller, Beth Edwards, Laurie Kaye Davis, James Orlowsky, Rina Bass, Evie Fernandez, Tiere Hessert, Yvette Tache Members Absent: Joshua Levy and Courtney Reeve Motion Made by Beverly Heller Second by Laurie Kaye Davis The Committee for Quality Education requests the Mayor and Commission move forward with the Miami Beach Senior High School drop -off project (Slide 1B attached) as presented to the Committee for Quality Education on November 15, 2022, by the Transportation and Mobility Department of the City of Miami Beach and impacted trees at Miami Beach Senior High School in the swale be replaced or replanted if possi ble but not delay the project. The Committee for Quality Education urges the Mayor and Commissi on to support the above request. C4R Referral (Meiner) NQLC and C4AE Referral (Richardson) MBSH Drop off and Pick Up – February 25, 2022 Finance Meeting discussed. $175,000 recommended as match to MDCPS and Miami Dade County – update provided 3. C4E MBSH Scoreboard request matching fund $12,500 recommended at March 30 Finance meeting and on May 4 Commission agenda – approved – pending MDCPS draft amendment to the JUA for MBSH Field – update provided 4. C4F MB Chamber request $100,000 prostart kitchen at MBSH referred to April 29 Finance meeting. Approved at May 4 Commission agenda – draft agreement routed for approvals. MBCEF will sign agreement with MDCPS. – update provided 5. Motion 12.7.21 on Public Safety and Neighborhoods Quality of Life May 17, 2022 agenda item 28 from January 20, 2022 item C4A PD Method to get correct and timely info to cmb residents in times of real-time emergencies – discussed at July Commission meeting and PD & Fire CMB and MDCPS emergency practice drill August 2022 – update provided 6. C7H Allocation of STEM funding in the amount of $275,000 amongst MB schools on Nov. 16th Commission meeting agenda – update provided 7. New Business / Announcements • In-person outdoor meetings for 22-23 options and/or virtual meetings via zoom with camera on – members agreed unanimously to continue meeting virtually as this is most effective method to meet and keeps everyone healthy 9.
