EVALUATION AND APPRAISAL REPORT
From:
Subject:
As part of the Evaluation and Appraisal Report (EAR) process, which analyzes the City's Comprehensive Plan,
public meetings have been scheduled to obtain the comments, suggestions and concerns of the citizens
regarding major issues that may face the City now and in the future. These major issues will be selected by
the Commission based on input from citizens, CMB staff, the Planning Board and local, regional and state
planning, transportation, water management and school agencies which have ongoing activities or interests in
Miami Beach.
The EAR process is also intended to evaluate whether the Comprehensive Plan is still up to date in its goals,
objectives and policies, how it has been implemented in the past 7 years, whether or not the City is following
the legal requirements set forth in the plan, and to provide a basis for suggesting changes and amendments to
the plan to make it the visionary document it is intended to be.
The schedule of the public meetings is as follows:
North Beach: Temple Menorah's Olenberg Hall, 7445 Carlisle Avenue on April 15th at 7 pm.
South Beach: Police Community Room, 1100 Washington Ave on April 19th at 7 pm.
Mid Beach: Nautilus Middle School, 4301 N. Michigan Ave, on April 21st at 7 pm.
Scoping Meeting with state/county/local agencies and governments will be held on April 30 in the
Manager's large conference room, at which time these representatives will also provide input on the
Major Issue selection.
A joint City Commission/Planning Board public hearing is tentatively being scheduled for May 12, 2004 after
5:00 p.m. At that time 4-5 major issues must be selected so that staff can begin the data gathering and
analysis necessary to complete the EAR report on time.
