A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING A BEQUEST
IN THE AMOUNT OF $186,159.78 FROM THE LEE FONTANA
BOBROW TRUST TO BE UTILIZED BY THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE OF DEFRAYING THE
CURRENT YEARS' FISCAL EXPENSES OF THE NORTH SHORE
YOUTH CENTER AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXECUTE THE RECEIPT OF BENEFICIARY AND ANY AND ALL
DOCUMENTS THAT MAY BE REQUIRED TO EFFECTUATE THE
RECEIPT OF SAID FUNDS.
WHEREAS, on April 8, 2021, the City of Miami Beach, Parks & Recreation Department
received a certified letter with the Last Will and Trust of the Lee Fontana Bobrow Trust; and
WHEREAS, the documents specified that ten percent of (10%) of the Lee Fontana
Bobrow Trust be donated to the North Shore Youth Center; and
WHEREAS, the Estate of Lee Fontana Bobrow Trust recently notified the City that the
distribution will be in the amount of $186,159.78; and
WHEREAS, the stipulation in the Lee Fontana Bobrow Trust was clear in that the
amount bequeathed be used in connection with the operations at the North Shore Youth Center;
and
WHEREAS, the North Shore Youth Center is not a legal entity that can accept and
administer these funds, rather it is a facility within the City's Parks and Recreation oversight;
and
WHEREAS, the check should be made payable to the City of Miami Beach and
deposited for the sole use of defraying the expenses incurred at the North Shore Youth Center
in order to accomplish the expressed charitable purpose of the Lee Fontana Bobrow Trust.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, hereby accept a bequest in the
amount of $186,159.78 from the Lee Fontana Bobrow Trust to be utilized by the City Of Miami
Beach for the sole purpose of defraying the current years' fiscal expenses of the North Shore
Youth Center and authorizing the City Manager to execute the receipt of beneficiary and any
and all documents that may be required to effectuate the receipt of said funds.

RECOMMENDATION

We have been advised by Sharon I Klein. Esq. that under the Last Will and Testament of Lee
Fontana BoBrow, the North Shore Youth Center, Parks and Recreation Department has
received a bequest in the amount of One Hundred and. Eighty Six Thousand, One Hundred and
Fifty Nine Dollars and Seventy Eight Cents, ($186,159.78). The Estate has been filed in the
Circuit Court for Broward County, Florida and the attorney for the Estate has published the
Notice of Administration and is in the process of marshaling the assets and preparing to make
distributions from the Estate. The attached Resolution formalizes the acceptance of the gift and
acknowledges that it is received in memory of Lee Fontana BoBrow. Upon adoption of the
Resolution, the Administration will transmit a copy to the attorney for the Estate in recognition of
this kind gift to the City of Miami Beach.

Per the 2022 community satisfaction survey the percent of residents rating the quality of park
and recreation programs as excellent or good is 82% and the maintenance of parks as excellent
or good is 82%.
