Hudak, City Mana~~ February 13, 2023 SUBJECT: Temporary Rooftop Pickleball -1755 Parking Garage Please be advised that the Parks and Recreation Department, in collaboration with the Parking Department, will be offering temporary pickleball courts on the 7" floor rooftop of the 1755 parking garage ( 1755 Meridian Avenue). A total of 4 temporary pickleball courts with portable nets will be available to the public from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays beginning the week of February 13". Information on the temporary pickleball courts will be available on the parks and recreation website www.miamibeachparks.com and will be shared via the city's social media platforms. The overwhelming popularity of pickleball on Miami Beach has led to creative opportunities to utilize various city amenities to meet user demand. Usage of the courts will be monitored to determine future program expansion and feasibility. Hudak, City Manag February 14, 2023 SUBJECT: Unveiling of Miami Beach Police K-9 Training Facility The purpose of this Letter to the Commission is to inform you of the opening of our first K- g training facility in Miami Beach. The facility is located within a plot of FOOT land along the 4000 block of Alton Road, leased annually to the City of Miami Beach. A portion of this land is being used for the K-9 training facility. The facility encompasses approximately 1/4 acre and will be outfitted with training equipment and an obstacle course to enhance the development and training of the police department's K-9s. The Miami Beach K-9 Knights are a not-for-profit organization celebrating their 10 anniversary with the Miami Beach Police Department. Since their inception, the Knights have supported our K-9 officers by generously donating the K-9s, the ballistic vests, and the equipment needed to train them. Currently, the Department has ten police K-9s, all of which have been donated by the Knights. During this 10-year partnership, the Knights have donated twenty K-9s, some of which have since retired. We encourage each of you to attend this event, highlighting our commitment to safety. The police department is planning a fun afternoon with food, demonstrations, and an opportunity to get to know our K-9 officers, their handlers, and the K-9 Knights.
