SUBJECT: Miami Beach Temporary Sign Installation
The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to inform the Mayor and City Commission that the Office
of Marketing and Communications in partnership with the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors
Bureau (GMCVB) has successfully installed a temporary branded "Miami Beach" sign in Lummus Park
between 5 and 6 streets on Ocean Drive.
The sign is intended to serve as a photographic backdrop for residents and visitors who want to share
their memories of the city across social media channels or to remember their time spent in Miami
Beach. The letter colors coincide with the palette used in the upcoming "Find Your Wave" marketing
campaign. The sign is expected to garner millions of unique impressions.
Installation occurred on Feb. 17., 2023 via a special event permit, with the specific location finalized
following outreach from a public webinar where residents had the ability to share their ideas, a public
special event permit review meeting and notification to the Ocean Drive Association.
This installation was fully funded by the GMCVB. Images of the sign are below.
