Resolution 2023-32502 RESOLUTION NO. 2023-32502 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, APPROVING A MATCHING GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $15,000 TOWARDS THE PRODUCTION OF THE HISPANIC HERITAGE FESTIVAL TO BE HELD BY ALMODOVAR MUSICA, LLC ON SEPTEMBER 15, 2023 AT THE MIAMI BEACH BANDSHELL; FURTHER, SUPPORTING ALMODOVAR MUSICA, LLC'S RENTAL WAIVER APPLICATION FOR THE USE OF THE MIAMI BEACH BANDSHELL, AND PROVIDING THAT IF THE CULTURAL ARTS COUNCIL ELECTS, IN ITS DISCRETION, TO DECLINE THE RENTAL WAIVER REQUEST, THE CITY SHALL UTILIZE AVAILABLE COMMUNITY BENEFIT OR OTHER FUNDS TO PAY FOR THE MIAMI BEACH BANDSHELL RENTAL FEES FOR THE EVENT. WHEREAS, Hispanic Heritage Month runs each year from September 15 through October 15, and celebrates the accomplishments of Hispanic Americans, who have enriched our culture and society and helped make the United States into the incredible country it is today; and WHEREAS, Almodovar Musica, LLC., wishes to produce a Hispanic Heritage Festival at the Miami Beach Bandshell on September 15, 2023 as part of the upcoming 2023 Hispanic Heritage Month; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission wish to allocate $15,000 in matching funds towards the production of the Festival; and WHEREAS, rental waivers for the Miami Beach Bandshell are reviewed by the City's Tourism and Culture Department, and are awarded by the Cultural Arts Council; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission express support for the Cultural Arts Council's consideration of the Almodovar Musica, LLC rental waiver application, as the concert has both, cultural and public purpose and value; and WHEREAS, should the CAC elect, in its discretion, to decline the rental waiver request, the City shall utilize available Community Benefit or other funds to pay for the Miami Beach Bandshell rental fees for the Summer Concert. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission hereby approve a matching grant in the amount of $15,000 towards the production of the Hispanic Heritage Festival to be held by Almodovar Musica, LLC on September 15, 2023 at the Miami Beach Bandshell; further, support Almodovar Musica, LLC's rental waiver application for the use of the Miami Beach Bandshell, and provide that if the Cultural Arts Council elects, in its discretion, to decline the rental waiver request, the City shall utilize available Community Benefit or other funds to pay for the Miami Beach Bandshell rental fees for the event.
