A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING A GRANT IN THE
AMOUNT OF $10,000 TO MIAMI BEACH LIFE-SAFETY INSTITUTE OF
FIRE & EMS ("MBLIFE"), A FLORIDA NOT-FOR-PROFIT
CORPORATION, TO BE USED FOR ITS CADET PROGRAM, MIAMI
BEACH FIRE RESCUE CADET POST #1510, AND AUTHORIZING THE
CITY CLERK AND CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE CITY'S
STANDARD GRANT AGREEMENT WITH RESPECT TO THE
FOREGOING; AND FURTHER, IN VIEW OF THE IMPORTANCE OF
THIS ORGANIZATION AND THE PUBLIC PURPOSES SERVED BY
THIS PROGRAMMING, DIRECTING THE CITY ADMINISTRATION TO
PRIORITIZE THE ALLOCATION OF A $10,000 GRANT TO MBLIFE
FOR ITS CADET PROGRAM, AS PART OF THE CITY'S ANNUAL
BUDGET PROCESS FOR FY2024.
WHEREAS, Miami Beach Life-safety Institute of Fire & EMS ("MBLIFE") is a
501c(3) not-for profit Florida corporation; and -
WHEREAS, MBLIFE's mission is to provide life-safety education and
professional certifications to the public at large, to enrich & inspire the Miami Beach
community; and
WHEREAS, through its training programs in CPR/AED/First Aid, Lifeguarding, &
Fire Safety, MBLIFE empowers everyday people and professionals to handle
emergency situations with calm, ease and understanding; and
WHEREAS, in 2021, MBLIFE established its first Cadet program, the Miami
Beach Fire Rescue Cadet Post#1510, a program designed for youth who are interested
in careers in public safety, EMS & the fire service; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission wish to allocate a one-time grant in
the total amount of $10,000 to the Cadet Program, subject to MBLIFE submitting a
report by November 1, 2023, documenting the objectives achieved with the grant
funding and compliance with all other terms of City's standard grant agreement; and
WHEREAS, further, in view of the importance of MBLIFE's mission and public
purposes served thereby, the Mayor and City Commission direct the City Administration
to prioritize the allocation of $10,000 to MBLIFE for its Cadet Program, as part of the
City's annual budget process for FY2024.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby approve a grant in the amount of $10,000 to Miami Beach Life-
Safety Institute Of Fire & Ems ("MBLIFE"), a Florida not-for-profit corporation, to be
used for its Cadet Program, Miami Beach Fire Rescue Cadet Post #1510, and
authorize the City Clerk and City Manager to execute the City's standard grant
agreement with respect to the foregoing; and further, in view of the importance of this
organization. and the public purposes served by this programming, direct the City
Administration to prioritize the allocation of a $10,000 grant to :MBLIFE for its Cadet
Program, as part of the City's annual budget process for FY2024.
