The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to update you on the status of the City's Official
College Transcript Incentive Program for Miami Beach Senior High School graduating seniors
participating in the city funded dual enrollment program. To date, 4,613 students have taken
dual enrollment classes at Miami Beach Senior High School and Miami Beach Nautilus Middle
School funded by the City resulting in 211 classes with an approximate savings to families for
college of $3,300,000.
Graduating 12" graders who have taken dual enrollment college courses funded by the City at
Miami Beach Senior High School or Miami Beach Nautilus Middle School through Florida
International University (FIU), the University of Florida (UF) and/or Miami Dade College (MDC)
are eligible to participate. The program covers the cost of obtaining official transcripts required
during the college application process from FIU, UF, and MDC. FIU charges $10 for each
official transcript, UF charges $10, and MDC charges $5. The program pays for up to five sets
of official transcripts, which could amount to a savings of $125 per student.
During the 2022-23 school year, 30 Miami Beach Senior High School 12 graders pre-
registered by the February 10, 2023 deadline. Staff from the Office of Education and
