I am happy to announce that Earth Month is here! Together with our community partners, we are
hosting events all month long to educate our residents, visitors, and staff regarding the beauty of
our natural resources and the importance of protecting our environment. I invite you to join in
celebrating our unique island environment surrounded by Biscayne Bay and the Ocean. Of
special note is the Miami Beach Turtle Fest, a brand-new family friendly event being hosted by
the E nviro nm ent and Sustainability Department in partnership with the Boucher Brothers in Altos
D el M ar Park on Ap ri l 29 , 202 3 .
• Saturday, April 1-Sea Turtle Season
April 1- October 31
Sea Turt le season is officially here! M ultiple City depart ments are collaborating to help
protect our favorite marine friends. The community is encouraged to reduce the impacts
to sea turt les by switching to sea turtle friendly lighting, closing blinds or curtains at
night, and keeping a distance from sea turtles and their nests.

• Thursday, April 6- Solar Co-op Launch and Info Session
Virtual - 6:00PM
The new solar co-op for homeowners and small businesses across the County is
launching on March 31°. Managed by Solar United Neighbors (SUN) of Florida, a solar
co-op brings participants together to bundle their buying power and secure a volume
discount on rooftop solar PV systems. The first Virtual Solar 101 Info Session will
provide a chance for participants to learn more about solar and how solar co-ops work.

• Saturday, April 15- Compost Collection and Workshop
North Beach Compost Hub (85 Street and Collins Avenue) - 10:00AM- 2:00PM
Come by the North Beach Compost Hub to meet the teams who make this program
possible and learn easy ways to incorporate composting into your everyday life. The
community is encouraged to bring a gallon-size or smaller container to collect
compost and ideas for a fun year of activities and workshops they would be
interested in attending.
• Saturday, April 15 - Baynanza
Various Locations - 9:00AM to 12:00PM
As part of the 41 st year of Baynanza, Miami-Dade County will be engaging thousands of
community volunteers throughout the county in cleaning 31 locations along
149-2023

Biscayne Bay's shorelines and islands, including Maurice Gibb Park, Flagler Memorial
Island (Monument Island), and the Julia Tuttle Causeway. Volunteers can register by

• Friday, April 21 - Middle Beach Freebee Tesla X Ribbon Cutting
2100 Washington Avenue - 2:00PM to 3:00PM
Miami Beach is taking its transportation to the next level with the introduction of Tesla X
vehicles, replacing the existing golf carts currently in operation for the Middle Beach on-
demand transit service. To celebrate this innovative change, a ribbon-cutting ceremony
will be held marking the official launch of the Tesla X service which will provide an eco-
friendly, luxurious, and efficient way of getting around Mid-Beach.

Miami Beach Botanical Gardens (2000 Convention Center Drive)- 10:00AM to 4:00PM
The Miami Beach Botanical Garden's (MBBG) will be hosting an Earth Day celebration
which will include a native plant giveaway, compost workshop, and other activities.

• Saturday, April 22 - #MiamiTech Earth Day with eMerge Americas
Collins Park (2100 Collins Avenue)- 9:30AM to 12:30PM
Join eMerge as the #MiamiTech community help keep Miami Beach parks and beaches
clean while having fun! This event supported by BITMAIN in partnership with eMerge
Americas and is benefiting Blue Scholars Initiative, whose mission is to educate and
empower students through hands-on (and virtual) marine science education to foster a
connection to the ocean and to launch long-term environmental stewardship.

• Thursday, April 27 - Arbor Day Tree Planting Ceremony & Proclamation
North Beach Compost Hub (85 Street and Collins Avenue) - Time pending
Miami Beach will celebrate Arbor Day with a proclamation and a tree planting in
partnership with the Miami Beach Botanical Garden at the North Beach Compost Hub.
This ceremony will promote the importance of the urban forest and will re-qualify the city
to receive the Tree City USA designation. Miami Beach has held this designation for 18
years, a testament to our community's hard work to protect our vital tree canopy.
• Saturday, April 29 - Miami Beach Sea Turtle Fest
Altos Del Mar Park (76 Street & Collins Avenue)- 11:00AM to 2:00PM
Join us at the Miami Beach Turtle Fest for a day of fun and celebration for the start of
sea turtle season. This exciting event brings together the local community to honor
these magnificent creatures and raise awareness about conserving their homes and our
environment. Activities will include beach cleanups, craft activities, games, tree
giveaway, educational programing and more!
