ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION:
The Administration recommends appropriating $606, 300 from Bond Fund
485 to be allocated to existing work order numbers 2060 ($15, 300) ;
2061 ($41, 000) ; 2078 ($550, 000) ; and appropriate $500, 000 from the.
Parking Impact Fund 155 to establish a work order within Fund 485
for land acquisition of 1027 Collins Avenue .
BACKGROUND:
The Parking Department is presently moving forward with the four
projects mentioned above (75th & Collins, Flamingo PAL, 1337
Collins and 1027 Collins) . These projects require appropriation
from Bond Fund 485 in order to continue work during FY 93/94 .
Construction of a parking lot at 75th Street/Collins Avenue
requires the appropriation of $15, 300 to cover costs that go beyond
the $166, 770 that has been appropriated in work order 2060 .
The Flamingo PAL project requires the appropriation of $41, 000 in
addition to the $137, 440 that has been appropriated, to eliminate
existing encumbrances and upgrade the status of the parking
facilities at this location. The upgrading of the lot will
increase the number of spaces available from 35 spaces to 120
spaces . I
The project at 1337 Collins Avenue requires the appropriation of
$550, 000 in order to demolish the existing structure and make the
land satisfactory for construction. Also, the appropriation is
needed so that construction may begin to extend the 13th Street
Garage. The final amount will be known after bids are received.
The site located at 1027 Collins Avenue requires the appropriation
of $500, 000 from the Parking Impact Fund to Fund 485 in order to
acquire the site from KTKL and cover other related costs .
CONCLUSION:
This appropriation totaling $1, 106, 300 from Parking Fund 485 will
enable the Parking Department to continue to work on existing 24
projects as well as move forward in alleviating the demand for
parking space in Miami Beach.
