RESOLUTION NO. 93-20998
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, DIRECTING
THE CITY ADMINISTRATION AND CITY ATTORNEY'S
OFFICE TO EXPLORE THE ACQUISITION, BY THE
STATE, DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, A PORTION
OF THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT APPROXIMATELY 61ST
STREET AND INDIAN CREEK DRIVE AND COLLINS
AVENUE.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach, in conjunction with the
State, Department of Transportation, has planned for the
reconfiguration of Collins and Indian Creek Avenues in various
areas of the City as those roadways are currently configured in
such a manner to create unsafe and hazardous traffic patterns and
congestion; and

WHEREAS, one particular area of great concern to the City's
public health, safety and welfare is that portion of Indian Creek
Driveiand Collins Avenue at approximately 61st Street, as the City
is gravely concerned that potential development in the area could
cause increased traffic and safety concerns; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission desire to have a
portion of the above-referenced property considered for acquisition
by the State to help alleviate the problems engendered by the
current roadway configuration.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA that the City
Administration and City Attorney's Office explore the acquisition,
by the State, Department of Transportation, of a portion of the
property located at approximately 61st Street and Indian Creek
Drive and Collins Avenue.

I am requesting that the attached resolution be placed on the
City Commission agenda of December 15, 1993. The current situation
at this location involves serious public health, safety and welfare
concerns that we must address.
